Tyldesley folk back pub's fight for The Christie
9:10am Saturday 11th February 2012

THE 'Calendar Girls' and 'Full Monty' men from a Tyldesley pub have helped win a brewery’s praise as top fund raisers for The Christie.
"But the we couldn't have done it without overwhelming support from generous customers, local businesses and the whole community," said grateful hosts Jean and Ian Mountford at the Mort Arms which is the toast of Manchester brewers Joseph Holt.
A pin-up calendar, a darts marathon, talent show, bungee jump, bring and buy and leg waxing plus a Full Monty performance in the Mort and the adjacent Black Horse boosted the Mort's radiotherapy centre contribution to almost £6,500 - higher than any of Holt's tenanted houses.
"I can't thank everyone enough," said Jean. "People have been amazing. One woman who isn't a regular customer walked in and handed me £50 from herself an her friend."
