Poor showing from youngsters
12:17pm Thursday 19th January 2012
Tyldesley Colts 3 Burnage Colts 8
TYLDESLEY Rugby Club’s colts started the new year with a poor and disorganised performance in a game they should have won.
Handling was below par, although defence was pretty good overall.
Good hard yards from Rushton, Norton, Schofield and Ashmead were constantly undone due to lack of support.
Burnage tested the hosts well, but great defence from Prendergast, Lloyd and Gillbanks on many occasion kept them at bay.
Great pressure from the hosts saw Wallbank slot over a penalty, giving them a 3-0 lead at the break.
One-man rugby made life easy for the visitors, though..
A good cross-field kick from within their own 22, as the home defence held off, allowed Burnage to score a good but unconverted try.
The visitors completed the scoring with a penalty in the 55th minute.
